Princetonians for Free Speech: Restoring Free Expression, Academic Freedom and Viewpoint Diversity at Princeton

Princeton is at a crossroads. Once considered a beacon of academic excellence, open debate and civil discourse in the pursuit of knowledge and truth, the university’s mission has eroded and its historic stature is threatened. It is now ranked among the worst for free speech, with students afraid to speak their minds, faculty pressured to conform, and a leadership that has become unmoored from the university’s core principles. Princetonians for Free Speech exists to change that.

Strictly without regard to partisanship or dogma, we are a movement of alumni, faculty, and students dedicated to restoring free speech, academic freedom, civil discourse and viewpoint diversity at Princeton. We oppose any ideologies that seek to undermine the pursuit of knowledge and the necessary conditions of civil discourse and wide open debate.

Through original analysis, goal-setting and strategic action, we empower students to speak freely and to organize events that model free speech and robust debate. We collaborate with faculty to restore Princeton’s historic academic mission, and we urge Princeton’s leadership to affect lasting policy changes—so Princeton can once again be a place where ideas are tested, not silenced.

We believe there is a silent majority who want to restore trust in Princeton. We aim to build a broad, diverse community of alumni, parents, students, and faculty to come together to affect change. Join us. Subscribe today and be part of the movement to reclaim Princeton’s core purpose.
